UEC DEVELOPED FOR INDIA INTEGRATED SYSTEM OF AFTER-SALES SERVICE FOR CARRIER-BASED AIRCRAFT ENGINES

In 2016 the UEC has fulfilled a large contract for manufacture and supply of RD-33MK turbojet engines to power Indian Navy MiG-29K/KUB aircraft. The engines manufactured at “Chernyshev MME” JSC (part of UEC) have been supplied within the earlier concluded contract between “RAC “MiG” JSC and Indian Ministry of Defense.

Implementation of the engine after-sales technical support system in the context of collaborative work with “United Aircraft Corporation” PJSC will significantly shorten the timelines of service preparation and performance to meet the Indian customer requirements. It will be possible by means of a technical support team accommodated on the operator’s territory in the post-warranty period which will make it possible to respond to any problems on a timely basis and as a result to improve efficiency of the RD-33MK engine fleet operation.

The ASTS system includes: maintenance and repair; materiel readiness; supply and maintenance of documentation; personnel training. Twenty-four-hour liaison will be ensured between the sides.

In December 2014 the UEC received a license from FSMTC RF for independent foreign trade activity, connected with maintenance support and after-sales service of military purpose products. The license makes it possible to provide direct export supply of spare parts, components and technical documentation for the earlier supplied engines as well as carry out their maintenance and repair.           

The RD-33MK bypass turbojet engine with afterburner (for MiG-29K/KUB and MiG-35 aircraft) is a development of the base RD-33 engine which was subjected to serious design modification. During building the RD-33MK engine all the base platform advantages were maintained. Simultaneously the engine has increased thrust (increased by 10% at maximum ratings), it is equipped with modern digital automatic control system. The life is significantly extended by means of using upgraded system of turbine cooling.

With the RD-33MK engine the aircraft is able to take off from the carrier decks, effectively perform combat missions under hot climate conditions. The RD-33MK engine has a module design which makes it possible to conduct local repairs and replacement of individual parts, assemblies and modules directly in operating conditions.

The RD-33MK engine is installed on the MiG-29K/KUB carrier-based aircraft and on the up-to-date   MiG-35 multi-role frontline fighter, flight tests of which were started in January 2017.
